It Is Time to Ansor to Go Green

BANYUWANGI -- Chairman of the Youth Movement (GP) Ansor Addin Jauharudin launches Ansor Go Green at Bangsring Beach, Banyuwangi, East Java. The launch is the culmination of all Go Green activities carried out by all managers of GP Ansor Branches throughout Indonesia.

Gus Addin, Addin Jauharudin's familiar name, said this summit event was deliberately held in Banyuwangi given that this area has a lot of historical value, not only for Indonesia but also for GP Ansor. One of them, Banyuwangi became the area where GP Ansor stood exactly 90 years ago.

“Banyuwangi is a sacred land. Right at this point (Banyuwangi) GP Ansor was established in 1934 (9th Muktamar NU on 21—26 April 1934). Not far away is the tomb of the muassis (founder) of NU KH As'ad Syamsul Arifin. And this place is the founding of the Kingdom of Blambangan in the 16th century, after Majapahit,” Gus Addin said in a written statement at the event attended by Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas, former Regent of Banyuwangi for two terms, on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Gus Addin said the launch of Ansor Go Green was a series of activities from the 90th Harlah GP Ansor that was a turning point in the changing face of GP Ansor. “Minister, there will be many changes in Ansor's face in the future. Ansor, which young Indonesian children are born, must absorb every productive and innovative activity of young children, so that it becomes an activity with young Indonesians,”he said.

In addition to Ansor Go Green which encourages young people to love their environment, GP Ansor, has recently done Gowes 90 kilometers from GP Ansor's office on Jalan Kramat Raya to Ponpes Albaqiyatussholihat as well as the tomb of Mama Cibogo, one of Hadratussyaikh KH Hashim Asy'ari santri.

On the occasion, Gus Addin also alluded to Indonesia's growing tourism. One of its icons is Banyuwangi. According to Gus Addin, tourism is the focus of the growth of various sectors such as education, transport, industry and even hospitals. For that, he says, it's important to keep the comfort of the tourists visiting. “Then the most important thing is to take care of the tourists, the people who visit. It makes sure they feel comfortable, safe and happy,” he said.

In the Ansor Go Green series, GP Ansor also made the climb to Kawah Ijen, raising the Indonesia National flag and GP Ansor at the site.

In various regions, Administrators of Regions, Branches,  of GP Ansor throughout Indonesia have carried out Go Green activities in their respective regions. Among them, the planting of 1,000 Mangroves on the coast of Kendari Bay carried out by GP Ansor of Southeast Sulawesi Region. The activity, organized in cooperation with Kanwil Kemenag Sultra in cooperation with GP Ansor Sultra and Pokja Lintas Agama, was conducted on Thursday (2/5/2024).

Kakanwil Kemenag Sultra Muhamad Saleh said that the activity is a real form of action by Kanwil Kemenag Sultra together with GP Ansor and Interfaith Group to respond quickly to Ministry of Religious Affair Regulation (Surat Edaran) Number 2 of 2024 on the duties of religious extension and civil servants in support of government priority programs.

“In the SE it is mentioned that the preservation of the environment is the duty of religious leaders and residents, in addition to preventing and accelerating the decline in stunting rates, decreasing poverty rates and economic empowerment,” he said.

Related to Environmental Preservation, Saleh said, it was also developed by pushing back the Go Green madrasah movement or Madrasah Green and Asri in Madrasahs spread across 17 regional or cities in Sultra.

Muhamad Saleh claimed that he will follow up the program through an official letter that will be sent to the regional branch of Ministry of Religious Affairs to carry out the same so that the environmental preservation program proposed by the government can be carried out massively.

Meanwhile, Chairman of GP Ansor Sultra H Pendais Haq said that the activity is also consistent with GP Ansor's 90th Anniversary Program, namely mangrove planting and beach cleaning.

“This is a good form of collaboration between Kemenag Sultra and GP Ansor. We want to reincarnate the lungs of a world that is increasingly extinct and undergoing degradation. In addition, as a form of our concern, contributing healthy air not only to the country, but also to the world that our posterity will enjoy going forward,” he explained.

In Kediri, the Leader of the Branch (PAC) of the Youth Movement (GP) Ansor of Puncu District, Kediri Regency, joined dozens of cadres together across nature lovers organizations to carry out Go Green or greening. Chairman of PAC GP Ansor of Puncu District, Yusuf Baitul Akbar said, this activity has actually also received instructions from the center manager to conduct environmental cleaning.

It claimed that in Kediri region especially in Puncu District there are still many forests, including protected forests. Nevertheless, Ansor Puncu wants to maintain the sustainability of forest oxygen supply through trees, plus it has added value for residents. “If there is an unpreserved source, we end up taking it there. Source Celeng itself has not been neglected, it's just not the maximum care,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (24/04/2024).

According to Yusuf, in the future from GP Ansor Puncu will put up a signboard that this location has plants that come from Ansor as a relic, because it is planted with all fruitful trees, so that it can be used by local residents when it has already borne fruit. “Yes, it can be used, because our picture of this Celeng (Puncu) Source can be for tourism. Yesterday it was managed that there were 11 sources and there was a fish pond for fishing, but because it was far from the settlement it was a death knell,” he said.

In addition, all other Ansor branches carry out activities related to the environment. GP Ansor Jember cleans mosques, neighborhoods, NU offices, up to Canga'an Beach. Meanwhile, GP Ansor Brebes district is cleaning up the beach.
